Some teens are exposed to online spaces that normalise illegal activity, such as online fraud. These spaces often hide the real risks: arrest, criminal records, violence, and exploitation by people higher up the chain who profit the most.

How to talk about it

Avoid shaming or moralising. Instead, focus on consequences and fairness—who really benefits and who takes the risk. Acknowledge financial pressure and discuss safer, legal ways to earn money online. Emphasise that short-term gains can lead to long-term harm.
